Western USA National Parks holiday
Description of Western USA National Parks holiday
Soak up some seriously swoon-worthy scenery on this Western USA national parks holiday, which takes in three of America’s most iconic and best-loved parks, all of them renowned for their amazing natural landscapes. And this trip is ideal for those who want to see a lot in a short space of time, as it spans just five days on a round-trip from Las Vegas.
Get to know your group, and your guide, on the move, as you leave Vegas straight away for the red rock majesty of Zion National Park. There is a range of self-guided trails you can enjoy through imposing canyons, depending on whether you’re after a shaded stroll, or something a bit more challenging.
From Zion it’s a short loop northeast to Bryce Canyon, and some of the most distinctive scenery you’ll find in the USA. Walking trails thread between the ‘hoodoos’ of Bryce Canyon, which resemble sandstone fingers reaching towards the sky. But this vast natural amphitheatre is perhaps best appreciated from above.
With departures between March and October, the climate in these parks can vary substantially depending on when you travel. If you’re there in summer, a mid-point visit to lovely Lake Powell could be a very welcome break from the desert heat. Take to kayaks to admire rock formations from the water, before a little more hiking.
Monument Valley, a Navajo tribal park, has been the setting for countless Western movies. But long before European settlers arrived, it had a centuries-old Native American presence. You’ll explore that heritage with a knowledgeable Navajo guide, and be invited to share a traditional homecooked Navajo lunch, as well.
Your adventure concludes with that most famous of all the American national parks: the Grand Canyon. Again, depending on the month of travel, your tour leader will aim to get you to the rim for either sunset or sunrise. And what a view it will be, over one of the great natural wonders of the world.
This walking tour depends on the maintenance of the parks’ trail networks. By paying your park entrance fees you contribute to those efforts. And your tour operator also makes a specific donation to the Grand Canyon Conservancy, which works to protect native wildlife and plants, and provides educational programs for visitors.

Planet
By combining hiking and kayaking, the activities on this adventure are people-powered and planet-friendly. Instead of offering a popular cruise on Lake Powell, we offer kayaking to be as low impact as possible. Visiting some of the USA’s most beloved national parks means that the included entrance fees are fed back into the conservation of these parks. Your visit will leave no trace and rubbish will be taken away, and you will be encouraged to carry a refillable water bottle with you on your travels.People
